GRANTS 2.0 The University of Alberta launched Grants 2.0 on June 23, 2009. This new systems upgrade involved the implementation of the PeopleSoft Grants and Contracts modules. By implementing these modules, the Research Services Office has gained the ability to combine pre-award activities for research grants and contracts with post-award fiscal management functionality, thereby ensuring greater administrative control of research funding at the University and facilitating the provision of more research grant and contract information to the broader research community. The University of Alberta is the first post-secondary institution in Canada to fully implement these two PeopleSoft modules. Researchers and research administrators will access Grants 2.0 through the Researcher Self-Service Page. When a researcher or research administrator logs into PeopleSoft, his/her access will typically default to the Researcher Self-Service Page. From this page, access is available to the Researcher Home Page, Researcher Training Resources and eTRAC Home Page. What individuals see on these pages is based upon their security roles in PeopleSoft.
The Researcher Home Page is designed to provide researchers with access to their active Projects and pending Proposals. Research administrators will also have access, but will need to use the advanced search function to view the Projects and Proposals for which they have security clearance.
The Researcher Home Page provides a snapshot view of the status of a researcher’s active Projects – name and ID number, end date, total award value, SpeedCode and, most importantly, current funds available. Clicking on the Project ID will link a researcher to a Financial Overview - Flash Report containing more budget details on individual projects. For their pending Proposals, researchers will see the name and ID number, the sponsor and the proposal status.
Log-In and Training AssistanceResearchers and research administrators may log-in to the Researcher Home Page or eTRAC via the Log In to Researcher Self-Service and eTRAC page.
Self-help training materials on Grants 2.0 and the Researcher Home Page are available on the Grants 2.0 Training Materials page. Self-directed training materials include:
Other than these new features and minor changes, campus users will not experience significant impacts from Grants 2.0. Most of the system changes are associated with RSO activities.
