Internal Process - U of A Letter of Intent (LOI)
Faculties are invited to submit a two-page letter of intent (LOI) to email@example.com by July 21, 2017.
The LOI should outline the strategic importance of the proposed chair program and suggest individuals to be recruited. Most of the institutional allocation will be focused on supporting areas currently being considered closely as possible Signature Areas, namely:
- Precision health
- Energy and environment
- Indigenous community revitalization
- Artificial intelligence
- Nanoscience and nanotechnology
- Gender intersections
- Food security
Other areas will be considered if they align strongly with Faculty priority initiatives or have been previously submitted to the Signature Area Development Panel. Interdisciplinary/multi-faculty proposals are encouraged. Decisions on approved LOIs will be communicated to submitters by July 28 to allow time to complete the registration and proposal documents. Note that gender balance and diversity will be important factors in the national competition.
Individual applications to the University of Alberta’s Canada 150 Research Chair competition should be made using the online submission system of the University of Alberta Careers Webpage.
